Leo Wardrup Memorial Cape Charles Cup (Friday, August 14, 2026)

Sponsored and organized by BBSA, the 23rd Annual Leo Wardrup Memorial Cape Charles Cup (LWMCCC) will be held on August 14-16, 2026. This 2-day distance racing event with its overnight destination of Cape Charles is unique to racing in the southern Bay. Both days are part of the Southern Bay Distance Racing Series (SBDRS).

NOTE: Cape Charles Town Docks and Cape Charles Yacht Center are full. Oyster Farm still has space.

The Saturday leg races from Little Creek to Cape Charles. Enjoy the after-race awards social at our new location: an open space in town, next to the Cape Charles Town Harbor and across from Gull Hummock Gourmet Market. Have dinner and drinks with friends, and sight see or shop in Cape Charles. Dock at Cape Charles Town Harbor, Cape Charles Yachting Center, or Oyster Farm Marina at King’s Creek.

Entry Fee: $135.00 if received by July 17th; $195.00 if received thereafter. New boat owner’s fee is $95.00. Once you are registered, email a photo of your boat to CCCpics@broadbaysailing.org by July 17th to be included in the yearbook and website. Entry fee includes registration, one Cape Charles Cup hat and short sleeve tee shirt, two Saturday dinner tickets, and a Cape Charles Cup skipper’s bag loaded with useful and interesting stuff.

Entries and Deadline:
Registration is open now and closes at midnight on Friday, August 7th.

Competitors’ Meeting: Social (skipper + 1) @ 1800 hours and Skippers’ Meeting @ 1830 hours on Friday, August 14th at East Beach Bayfront Club. 4550 E. Beach Dr. Norfolk, VA 23518

Again this year: We have moved the LWM Cape Charles Cup Saturday social event, dinner, and awards presentations to downtown Cape Charles using the open grassy area off Mason Ave. between the Cape Charles Town Docks and Gull Hummock Gourmet Market. Thanks to Cape Charles Yacht Center for contributing the lot. Dinner will be provided by Mallard’s at the Wharf from Onancock, VA. Tents will protect participants from rain and sun. The new location provides easy access to Cape Charles harbor, downtown shopping, and Cape Charles Central Park. Register now to reserve your spot.
